ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Ma-
chinery Manufacturers, producing more than 80 per
cent of the Italian textile machinery worth 2.6 billion
euros, operates in over 130 countries. Asia absorbs
nearly 50 per cent of its total export, followed by
Europe.
The Indian textile industry is one of the lead-
ing producers and exporters of textile products and
therefore one of the most important markets for
textile machinery. The country is the third among
Italian textile machinery importers.
“Business opportunities have multiplied, particu-
larly in recent years, owing in part to the incentives
offered by the Indian authorities to promote mod-
ernization of the local industry”, said Sandro Sal-
moiraghi, ACIMIT President.
To meet this growing demand for Italian textile
machinery, ACIMIT recently organized two events,
one each in Mumbai and Ichalkaranji. Held in ac-
cordance with Machines Italia in India and Feder-
Macchine, the event was well received by the local
textile professionals. The participants were some
of the leading machinery manufactures from Italy
who briefed the gathering on their latest technology
proposals.
