events
Texfair 2012, the seventh edition of
the Textile Machinery, Accessories,
Spares & Equipments Exhibition,
was held at the CODISSIA Trade
Fair Complex in Coimbatore during
March 2-5. Over 150 exhibitors dis-
played their products and services at
the 170 stalls.
The exhibitors were manufacturers/distributors/
service providers of textile machinery, spares, ac-
cessories, testing equipments, electrical and elec-
tronic components, etc. Manufacturers/suppliers
from China, Japan, Germany, etc., also exhibited
their products and services.
Coinciding with TEXFAIR, the Association had
organized the Textile Product Show, a maiden
event, for all the four days. Around 20 textile
mills participated in it. Most of the mills were
from Tamil Nadu and the products ranging from
yarn to fabric were displayed. The others dis-
played yarn and cloth made from organic cotton,
viscose, blended yarn, open-end yarn, slub yarn,
fancy yarn, etc.
Many spinning mills which have gone in for
forward integration presented their products like
knitted cloth, woven cloth and varieties of home
textiles. A few mills introduced branded varieties
which attracted huge gatherings.
A unique feature of the show was the presence
of 40 powerloom owners from Sholapur who
visited the stalls and made enquiries about yarn
availability and quality, etc. Powerloom owners
and weavers from Somanur, Palladam, Erode,
Tiruchengode, Namakkal and Salem also visited
the stalls.
Seminars were organized on March 3 and 4 at
the same venue. The topics for discussion were
“Energy Conservation and Power Planning” by
Power House, “Energy Savings in Energy Com-
pressors” by Elgi Equipments Ltd., “Natural Gas
Supplies through Cochin-Bangalore-Mangalore
pipeline” by Gas Authority of India Ltd., “Gas-
based Captive Power Generation” by Sterling
& Wilson Ltd., and “Stalemate to Stability – A
breakthrough Lean DFSS Solution for Textiles”
by the Indian Statistical Institute.
Texfair 2012 and Textile Product Show attract-
ed over 40,000 business trade visitors. CEOs and
top executives from mills also visited the expo
which helped the mills in incorporating the lat-
est developments. It also helped the exhibitors get
more new business contracts, apart from renewing
the existing ones.
