observed: “At one time the invest-
ment in the State was Rs. 200 crores
and Trident generated employment
by making investment of Rs. 3,600
crores. Development has also got
momentum in rural areas as fa-
cilities like education, medical and
sports, roads, drinking water, etc.,
are being ensured.”
Mr. Ahluwalia congratulated the
Chairman of the Trident Group, Mr.
Rajinder Gupta, and stated that the
group will be the No.1 in the world
after the new unit starts functioning.
The new facilities will be engaged
in the manufacturing of terry tow-
els, sheeting, value-added yarns and
captive power plant. This expan-
sion, which is expected to be com-

pleted by the third quarter of 2013,
will be one of the largest integrated
home textile manufacturing facili-
ties in the world.
Commenting on the expansion,
Mr. Rajinder Gupta said: “Trident
has exhibited building world class
capacities over the years and has
seen tremendous success in domes-
tic as well as international markets.
This plant will be strategic to our
group’s growth over the next decade
in consolidating our leadership posi-
tion. It would also help us meet the
growing demands for our products,
while expanding our markets glo-
bally. We are looking at inclusive
growth and feel this is the right time
to grow our market share”.

Mr. Rajinder Gupta, a first generation
entrepreneur with integrity, commitment
& dynamic leadership as core values, has
enabled the Trident Group to emerge one
of the best governed companies in India.
He has been serving the group as its Chief
Executive Officer since 1992. Under his
management the company has registered a
compound annual growth rate of over 30
per cent.
Mr. Gupta has indeed taken the com-

world’s largest terry towel manufacturers,

projects worth Rs. 25,000 million over
the last five years and is implementing
projects worth Rs. 36,000 million over the
next three years.
Currently the Vice Chairman of the
Punjab State Planning Board, Mr. Gupta
has won in the past few years such meri-
torious Awards as the Padma Shri Award,
PHDCC Distinguished Entrepreneurship
Award, Udyog Ratna Award, Udyog Patra
Award and the Entrepreneur of the Year
Award.
He has his rich educational background
and has done the Advance Management
Programme (Harvard Business School,
USA), Advance Management Programme
(Oxford University at Templeton College,
Oxford, UK), Orchestrating Winning Per-
formance Programme (IMD International,
Switzerland), Diploma in Decision Base
organized by Celemi, Sweden, and Lead-
ership Skill for Top Managers, organized
by ISB, Hyderabad.
Mr. Gupta has the rare distinction of pro-
viding direct employment to over 12,000
families and indirect employment to over
15,000 families.
