Elgi Electric, a pioneer in providing engineering solutions for the textile industry, has successfully executed a project for one of the leading Indian textile companies. The project includes complete bobbin transportation systems (BTS), overhead travelling cleaners (OHTCs), yarn conditioning systems (YS), centralised vacuum systems (CENVAC) and pneumovac systems.
The project has been executed at Arvind Mills’ plant at Ahmedabad which is fully automated.
Mr. Jagadesh, Sr. Manager Marketing, Elgi Electric & Industries Ltd., said: “It is one of the most prestigious projects for Elgi Electric. We have designed a bobbin transportation system in such a way that any bobbin can be carried from any speed frame to any part of a ring frame and to run 5 different counts and 5 different colors of bobbins”.
He also disclosed that the project is for super coarse count yarn, and hence the number of bobbins to be carried from the speed frame to ring frame is enormous. The project, started three months back, is now fully functional.
Elgi Electric has been providing engineering solutions for textiles for nearly four decades. The company has always been in the forefront of technological advancements and has designed and developed products to suit the futuristic requirements of the industry. Its portfolio of products comprise yarn conditioning systems, OHTCs, bobbin transportation systems, centralized vacuum cleaning systems, metal and spark diversion systems, pneumafil waste collection systems, etc.
After the success of the project at Arvind, Elgi Electric is executing another project for Sri Venkata Siva Parvathi Spinning Mills in Guntur for bobbin transportation systems. This is again a fully automated plant.
Although Elgi Electric is generally considered a premium solution provider, Mr. Jagadesh said the company is now in a position to cater to the requirement of every customer in the market by providing the right solution at every price point.
In OHTCs, the company is the clear market leader with an 80 per cent share in the domestic market. With over 70,000 OHTCs running at various locations across India and the world over, it has its dominating presence in this segment with its capacity to produce 220 units per month.
Another important product offering which the company is bullish on is the pneumavac system. “Normally pneumavac waste is collected in the ring frame. Instead, we are now offering an automated system wherein the waste is collected automatically and sent to a waste recovery or recycle system. With severe labor shortage across industries, customers are increasingly looking for pneumafil waste collection system”, added Mr. Jagadesh.
Elgi Electric is also a major player in yarn conditioning systems. It sells five-six units per month and has orders on hand for the next eight months. However, offtake is mainly in summer.
