RIMTEX successfully fuses intelligent digital technologies with their sliver management expertise, leading spinners towards spinning 4.0. With this and two other breakthrough innovations under its belt, RIMTEX is set to storm ITMA 2019 at Barcelona.
The discourse that has currently engulfed the entire textile manufacturing industry is the advent of Industry 4.0. A lot of processes like equipment monitoring, supply chain visibility and stock management are rapidly going through digital transformation. Within the gamut of processes that encompasses yarn production, sliver handling has always been recognised as an important process, in terms of its potential to influence the final yarn quality.
RIMTEX, since its maiden ITMA presence in 1992, has been at the forefront of the evolution of spun fibre. At ITMA in June, RIMTEX will be showcasing multiple innovations, key among which is launching the concept of ‘Sliver Intelligence’.
Over the past 27 years, the innovations from RIMTEX – Patent Sliver Can designs, adaptability with spinning machines, single can for multiple types of sliver handling – have been trending across the length and breadth of the global spinning industry. The Gujarat-based company is among the few in the world with manufacturing capacity of a complete range of spinning cans and related accessories under one roof.
RIMTEX is the global leader in sliver handling technology and supplies its products to spinners across 56 countries. The group has made rapid strides in the Spinning Rings and Ring Travellers segment, through a separate entity, The X-Axis. The brand is synonymous with better output, consistency and longevity. The group is ready to showcase a range of innovations within the sliver management and Rings & Traveller realm at ITMA 2019. In a detailed discussion with Mr. Gaurav Parmar, Director at RIMTEX Group, we uncover details about their plans for ITMA 2019.
RIMTEX WIZCAN: Making 4.0 Spinning mill a reality
Historically demand for fibre and yarn has constantly been on the upswing. In the past, RIMTEX has provided solutions for improving spinning speed, consistency, flexibility and adaptability. Mr. Parmar observes, “To meet the evolving demand, spinners have to constantly look for ways to increase the fibre yield and improve the efficiency of spinning machines. The desire to give better products to the customers is pushing the textile industry towards technology-driven solutions.” This insight drove the group to embrace Industry 4.0 principles and create a new paradigm, which utilises data science in sliver management.
The RIMTEX team has been successful in creating an IOT-enabled system for intelligent sliver management, which, according to Mr. Parmar, “will transform spinning as we know it, forever.” The system is an amalgamation of high-tech hardware and proprietary software, entirely developed by the innovators at RIMTEX. Prod him more, and he explains how this system will go beyond mere ‘monitoring’ capabilities but empower the spinner with the most intelligent real-time insights, analytics, predictive and diagnostic capabilities and a lot more. Christened as RIMTEX WIZCAN, the system is the company’s showstopper at ITMA 2019. “There is a lot in WIZCAN that will amaze you. I invite you to ITMA 2019 and discover the true capabilities of WIZCAN at our stand”.
Innovations that redefine productivity
As they say, insight outweighs oversight. Sliver handling is a lengthy process and there are a few processes which have never been considered for improvement earlier. RIMTEX, with its enormous experience, is able to identify such spots, one of which is spinning can assembling. RIMTEX has readied a new breakthrough product innovation that provides a ‘never before’ imagined solution to the age-old challenges that have pruned productivity of spinners across the globe. As the company claims the new products will easily enhance spinners’ productivity by 30-40%.
“We have been working on these products for more than a year. All of us at RIMTEX are very excited and hopeful that these products will be embraced by the industry. The entire team has tried to give off their best, and we excitedly wait for the market response”, shares Mr. Parmar. RIMTEX’ penchant for innovation is commendable, and it is interesting to note how they turn around simple challenges into efficiency augmenting solutions.
RIMTEX has been able to sustain its leading position in the sliver handling can market with its ability to listen to customer needs and its inherent drive to learn. R&D is given a lot of importance at RIMTEX. Mr. Parmar adds: “The continuous efforts of the Research and Development team have positively impacted the quality of sliver in the sliver handling cans. Take, for example, our new spinning can DUO, which is a wonderful example of material innovation. DUO enhances the sliver quality by restricting the accumulation of static on the can surface.”
The team of The X-Axis will be also be showcasing a new range of products. The X-Optimax range of rings & travellers will bring in tremendous value to their existing oeuvre of product range. Spinners dealing in Lycra blends and synthetic yarns will be delighted with this new range from The X-Axis.
The road ahead
The previous year’s performance of the company has been extremely good. With around 2,000 cans capacity per day, RIMTEX continues to lead its numero uno position in this segment. A lot of strategic expansion plans are in place, and Mr. Parmar states that all will be announced at ITMA. The company has its long-term vision in place and has lined up product development plans until 2024.
“It will be well worth the wait. We will take you by surprise”. These words from Mr. Parmar further fuel the excitement for the upcoming ITMA.
