Danfoss Industries completes 20 years of operations in India

Planning to double capacity, localisation

Focussed on Engineering Tomorrow’s World, Danfoss, the leading global industry player in climate and energy efficient solutions, has announced the successful completion of 20 years of independent operations in the Indian market as Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd.

Entering the Indian market in the 1960s as a Denmark-based sales organisation with expertise in climate & energy solutions, it later set up Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd. in 1999 in Chennai as a 100 per cent subsidiary of Danfoss to be closer to customers and increase localisation.

Speaking on the India business, Mr. Kim Fausing, President and CEO, Danfoss, said: “At Danfoss we have always looked to innovate, be disruptive and give back to the society. India is a strategic market for Danfoss and we have set a strong foundation of growth in the Indian market, especially across food and energy efficiency sectors. We are currently focussed on expanding our portfolio through dedicated partnerships and firm customer relations, thereby setting a precedence for Engineering Tomorrow’s India”.

Built with an investment of over $100 million, the Danfoss India facility in Oragadam, Chennai is a global manufacturing benchmark for energy efficiency and sustainability. With the Government’s agenda to ‘Make in India’, Danfoss India has developed technologies, products and solutions which cater to the business requirements of a sustainable India and the rest of the world.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, said: “Over the last 2 decades, Danfoss India has brought in several innovations that have disrupted the industry both in terms of system efficiency and energy savings. The true testimony of Danfoss’ growth lies in the fact that our sales and headcount in India has grown manifold in the last 20 years. With the nation being ripe with opportunities, we are currently looking to enter newer markets and increase capacity within our manufacturing centres in Chennai, Baroda and Pune, carrying due focus on doubling our localisation levels.”
