Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd., which specialises in climate and energy-efficient solutions, recently showcased in Chennai its nextgen high-power automation drives – the VLT Drive with enclosure size E and the VLT Midi Drive – as part of its ‘Engineering Tomorrow’s India’ initiatives. The company aims to ensure that its solutions encourage industries, especially SMEs across Tamil Nadu, to adopt best practices which give operational efficiency and sustainability.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, said: “Over the years, Tamil Nadu has proved to be one of the most sought-after locations for SMEs. In the current scenario where India wants to emerge an energy-efficient nation, it is vital that industries focus on energy conservation for a better tomorrow. Tamil Nadu’s SME cluster can benefit significantly by employing our next-generation variable frequency drives that can easily bring in 18-20% savings on energy, thereby ensuring improved profitability.”
Danfoss drives can be utilized across industries such as cement, mining and minerals industry, cranes & hoists, sugar, paper, chemical, waste and wastewater management, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, marine and offshore, refrigeration, food and beverages industry, lifts and escalators management, etc.
VLT drive with enclosure size E
The newly-launched VLT drive has been reduced in size by 73%, which in turn reduces space constraints in the cabinet or control room which reduces capex on floor space and air-conditioning cost. Its efficient designing allows for greater power sizes to be integrated in a single drive. The back-channel cooling facility and the overall reduced size of the new VLT drive helps in reducing the scale of air-conditioning that is required for the room, leading to major savings in the up-front cost as well as operational expenses.
Almost 90 per cent of the heat losses are exhausted directly outside the enclosure which dramatically reduces the temperature rise and reduces the contamination of the electronic components in the heavy industries sector.
This drive’s exterior dimensions, connectors, cable lengths and set-up software tools allow one to easily retrofit an established drive panel. As standard in all single-phase units, the unique active power factor correction feature reduces the input current distortion remarkably, to less than 8%.
The built-in brake chopper for 3-phase drives in the whole power range saves money and panel space. It provides precise and efficient motor control for machine builders in the food and beverage, material handling and processing industries. It is ideal for a wide range of applications such as pumps, fans, mixers and compressors and conveyor and packaging systems.
