Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, launched the first CAD E-Fit Support Service in Apparel Manufacturing in Gurgaon, in India recently. The facility uses a combination of hardware and software systems and is capable of providing services to the manufacturers across country through HD video conferencing. The system is a significant milestone in the garment industry that will reduce the lead time in pre-production process to yield competitive advantage. The service will help manufacturers in creating 3D designs and patterns, as well as showcase fabrics stitched onto a virtual model to visualise the final product.
As technology evolves and improves in the textile industry, consumer preferences and demands change, making timely delivery with reliable quality a necessity for manufacturers. The CAD E-Fit Support Service enables storage of various designs along with the tracking of modifications to provide fast and accurate manufacturing solutions to the industry. This system also enables elimination of the delay in the pre-production as well as the approval stage. CAD and E-Fit Services will also provide successful use of mass customization strategies for benefit of the manufacturers and suppliers.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Rajesh Saigal, Regional Managing Director, Intertek, South Asia said, “In India’s fast-growing retail clothing market we see significant opportunities for international and domestic players. Intertek is dedicated to support the increasing demand for textile manufacturing in India through innovations like this, which will help the manufacturers realize cost efficiencies and speed up the delivery process, in addition to providing quality testing of their products. This will help our manufacturers solidify global competencies and enhance acceptability in global markets.”
The new service will cause product lifecycles to shrink significantly and increase global competitiveness both in textile production and exports. “Intertek has been a leader in the textile testing market in India since its entrance in 1996. With CAD E-Fit Support Services, we are looking at helping Indian manufacturers with a proactive approach. Reduced costs and better compliance practices will certainly ensure huge dividends to boost the market and product base of garment manufacturing and textile exports,” said Mr. Manish Kumar, Regional Director, Softlines, Country Manager for Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Madagascar.
