BKS Fabrics has solidified its position as a prominent name in the home textiles sector with its premium range of institutional linen. A part of the well-known Tirupur-based BKS Textiles group, the company is poised to make a significant impact at the forthcoming Heimtextil 2025 trade show with its innovative and diverse product offerings.
In an exclusive conversation, Sangeetha Velkrishna, Managing Director of BKS Fabrics, reflected on the company’s illustrious journey. She remarked, “BKS Fabrics has been a trailblazer in the home textile industry, blending decades of expertise with a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence.”
Speaking about the company’s roots and vision, she elaborated, “As you know, we are part of the BKS Textiles group, established in 1983. With BKS Fabrics, we are venturing into the institutional products space, including workwear apparel and hospitality linen. Our tagline is ‘Weaving Excellence and Delivering Trust.’ As the name suggests, we serve customers through trust. We aim to develop long-term relationships with our customers.”
Showcasing innovation at Heimtextil 2025
Delving into the company’s participation in Heimtextil 2025, Sangeetha shared details about their product lineup. “For Heimtextil, we are introducing our luxury bath linen collection and blanket collections. We are also showcasing our new range of our medical textiles such as lint-free blankets, medical scrubs, and doctor Coats. Another focus area will be bed linens designed for wellness and hygiene, including aromatherapy-infused, vitamin E-infused, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic products,” she said.
When asked about what makes their products stand out in the market, she highlighted the company’s emphasis on innovation. “Innovation is what we are known for. It’s the essence of our company. We have a dedicated design and development team and work closely with our international clientele. We take pride in growing along with our customers, developing products tailored to their specific needs,” she explained.
Sustainability at the core
Addressing the company’s sustainability initiatives, Sangeetha elaborated on their eco-friendly practices in sourcing and manufacturing. “Sustainability is not just about sourcing sustainable raw materials. We focus on local sourcing, reducing our carbon footprint, with most of our raw materials sourced from nearby regions. In manufacturing, about 60% of our energy comes from renewable sources. We plan to increase this to 100% by 2030,” she stated.
She further added, “When it comes to sustainability, we emphasize upcycling rather than recycling—reducing and reusing manufacturing waste to create different products.”
On balancing sustainability with quality and affordability, Sangeetha remarked, “People often say sustainability comes at a cost, but for me, it’s not that. Sustainability means using fewer resources, producing less waste, and emitting less carbon, ultimately making products more affordable without compromising quality.”
Expanding global reach
Discussing the company’s international markets, Sangeetha pointed out, “Our key global markets currently are the US, UK, and Europe. With the upcoming FTAs with the UK and Europe, we anticipate more business in these regions. Additionally, we are now focusing on South America and African markets.”
Adapting to market trends
When asked about trends shaping the global home textile industry, she observed, “Consumers are becoming increasingly eco-conscious, demanding healthier, smarter, and more responsible textiles. This has transformed the industry. We’ve responded by introducing performance textiles, multifunctional textiles, and smart textiles to meet these evolving needs.”
Competitive edge
Sangeetha also spoke about the company’s competitive advantages. “Our bespoke solutions tailored to the specific needs of each client give us a strong edge. Additionally, we cater to diverse consumer demands, maintain transparency in our supply chain, and embrace digital transformation through end-to-end ERP solutions,” she stated.
Strategic importance of Heimtextil
Finally, Sangeetha emphasized the strategic value of participating in Heimtextil 2025. “Heimtextil is an international platform for networking. It allows us to connect with existing and new customers, offering insights into forthcoming trends and innovations. Being early in the year, it helps us forecast and plan strategically for the rest of the year. Additionally, it’s a great platform to observe international competitors and their offerings, making it a valuable opportunity for business growth,” she said.
She concluded on an enthusiastic note, “We take delight in welcoming visitors to our booth and look forward to interacting with a cross-section of visitors from around the world at the exhibition. You can find us at Hall No: 8, Stall No: G 57.”
