Bhaskar Denim, a Dainik Bhaskar Group company incorporated in 1985 as a spinning mill in Bhopal, is now among the top five denim mills in the country producing 42 million metres per annum. Dealers/traders, brands and washers play a significant role in the value chain and have an important contribution in the growth of denim industry in India. This segment takes care of more than 60 per cent of the denim capacity in the country. Through the event Bhaskar Denim showcased the Spring Summer 13 collection, it’s best-sellers and the quick delivery collection. As a significant part of the event, Bhaskar Denim also organized a washing competition among the mid-level washing laundries. 26 washing laundries showcased their innovative washes on the common fabric provided by Bhaskar and awards were given to 5 different categories.
Giving utmost importance to this segment, Bhaskar launches two collections every year, namely, Spring Summer and Autumn Winter. Its international and in-house product development team strives hard to give the best products to the market. The Bhaskar product range includes flat finished, coated, padded fabrics, utilizing special blends such as linen, tencel and other specialty fibers.
Bhaskar Denim has also introduced the concept of quick delivery collection to cater to the small quantities and immediate fabric requirements of small and medium-scale brands.
The company is currently working with reputed brands like VF, Tommy Hilfiger, NEXT, Jack and Jones, Marlboro, ZARA, M&S, Only and Carrefour. Along with major exporters like Shahi, Arvind, Chelsea, Gokaldas and Scotts, it has also spread its wings in garmenting hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangaluru, Bellary, Chennai, Kanpur and Indore.
Mr. Srigopal Jhawar, Business Head, Bhaskar denim, says that the Indian denim industry is growing at a healthy rate of 12 per cent. The current Indian denim production capacity of 850 million metres per annum is expected to cross 1,000 million metres by 2015.
With a current sales turnover of nearly Rs. 750 crores, Bhaskar Denim is expected to grow 10 per cent during 2012-13.
