The company has created for itself the reputation of being a ‘reliable supplier’ in the global market with exports to more than 25+ countries
Becoming successful in the textile industry is not just about focusing on business and profits but has more to do with building a culture. Gurjar Group exhibits a strong philosophy and culture that has helped it step up on the industrial growth ladder by making its clients, vendors and employees a top priority and focusing on solving real problems. In this respect, it has been a pioneer several times over. The company has crossed more than six glorious decades in the industry as manufacturers and suppliers to the printing industry.
It started its operations in 1956, triggered by the vision and efforts of late Laxman Dalal to build a company that would create benchmark-setting solutions for its clients. As a result of the focus on innovation, the company became the first manufacturer of Galvano® design screens in 1972 – still an accepted quality standard for printing machinery. It was his dedication that led him to set out overseas in search of technology that could revolutionise the way printing was done in the Indian textile industry. His legacy goes on in the kind of products the company is able to provide to its customers, and in the excellent way this organisation operates.
Leading from the Front
The company has also ventured into exports of grey and printed fabric of the best quality. With the tight quality control parameters in place and the fact that the company always tries to provide value-addition to its customers, Gurjar Group has created for itself the reputation of being a ‘reliable supplier’ in the global market with exports to more than 25+ countries. One of their benchmarks is the textile rotary printing technology that is being improved and polished continuously. The company has carried out many upgrades in this technology with its rigorous research and development, thereby establishing deep trust among its customers.
Although digital printing technology is considered more advanced, it comes at a high cost and lesser efficiency. And while competition from digital printing is intense, with respect to the current scenario, Zainuddin Mahuwala, Managing Director at Gurjar Group, says that rotary printing will witness several good decades in the future. Armed with more than 45 years of experience in screen making alone, Gurjar Group has successfully introduced the NEO+ series of third-generation screens. These state-of-the-art high mesh rotary screens are the printing technology of the future since they offer highly efficient printing – enough to give digital printing tough competition.
Developed after eight years of research and testing, these screens are available in 135ED, 165ED and 195ED mesh, and the latest NEO+ 210 mesh which, according to Rajiv Dalal, Group Chairman of Gurjar Group, are exclusively manufactured only by them across the world. This high-end technology is supplied to printing industry clients who also believe in making something more of business than simply transactions. These innovations and the goodwill that the company has maintained have been derived from the outstanding cultural values passed on through generations of leaders of the organisation.
A New Wave
The NEO+ 210 gives the prints a ‘notch-above’ touch by adding value to the prints in terms of finer than ever high-definition quality printing. With increased surface area and exceptionally refined print quality, the screens also offer the benefit of cost-savings to the customers. Being in the printing supplies’ sector with a continuous force led by innovation, the company has been posting consistent growth along with the support of the industry. Meanwhile, with his youthful energy and determination to take this group to greater heights, Shubair Mahuwala, Executive Director, Gurjar Group, has started introducing new facets to the company. A lively and colourful factory unit with renovations being made in full form are witness to a fresh wave of youthful energy, thus creating better vibes among both staff and clients.
Commenting on the initiatives undertaken by him, Shubair Mahuwala says: “The main philosophy of the company is to stay ahead of its time by providing meaningful solutions to the industry in order to make their working practices more fruitful. For that, it is necessary that we come up with ways to cross our own benchmarks and keep doing something new, be it products or processes, so that we are able to stay ahead of the curve.” At present, Gurjar Group is crossing its own boundaries and moving forward to becoming a manufacturing hub. The company has focused its innovation in the direction of value-addition to the product, the purpose being to become a force to reckon with, globally.
“Customers, both domestic and international, are always in search for best value for their money and to keep them satisfied, the company’s research and development unit has been working towards refining the existing products as well as moving towards greater breakthroughs,” Mahuwala states. A major factor that sets Gurjar Group apart from other manufacturers in the industry is that the company is not only working to better its products and customer relations externally but also within the company itself. By establishing a vibrant culture in the organisation and providing its employees a good environment at work, it has ensured the efficiency and dedication of employees towards providing their best work.
The Way Ahead
Gurjar Group believes that ethics and principles only lead to prosperity. With the strength of more than 200 employees and a strong client base, the company has proved that the power of growth lies in helping others grow too. It has recently expanded to set up a new plant that covers an area of 20,000 sq. yards and will soon have a facility dedicated to the manufacturing of printing chemicals and spare parts. This will be another step forward in the direction of becoming a complete solutions provider for the printing industry. “With us as a supplier offering a wide range of products with higher reliability and accountability, our clients have lesser burden of supervision and in acquiring different parts from different suppliers,” Mahuwala points out.
