Feburary 28 is celebrated as International Tailors Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sir William Ellias Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine. An event was held at SCM Garments, Tirupur jointly with iHuman Power for a project called iTailor to honour and recognise the efforts of tailors. The company invited former minister M S M Anandan, MLA Vijay Kumar of Tirupur North Constituency and directors from iHuman Power and SCM Garments to attend the event. All the tailors working with SCM Garments were felicitated on this occasion. SCM Garments Private Limited was started as an endeavour to meet the challenges of a growing textile export market. In 1989, the company began its journey in the textile industry in Tirupur.
